Level 2 Teaching Assistant

Grade: Level 2A (Points 4 - 5)

Salary: £9.81 to £10.01 per hour (starting salary £15,519 per annum if working 35 hours)

Job Description:

Due to expansion of the school, I am looking to appoint enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic teaching assistants who want to work with our fantastic children and young people. If you think that you meet these criteria please get in touch, even if you haven’t worked in a special school before!

The post is a permanent full time contract and is for 35 hours weekly and the hours you will be required to work are 8.30am – 4.00pm on a daily basis.  Part time contracts will be considered for a reduced number of days, however the working hours are fixed.

This is an exciting time to join the school and play a role in our future development.

Visits for prospective candidates are welcomed and encouraged. Due to current restrictions, the visits will be arranged in accordance with social distancing guidelines.

We require a new cleaner to work at one of the three Ivel Valley School sites (Hitchmead Road, The Baulk and Biggleswade Academy – Kitelands Road). For a full job description, person specification and application form please go to our website:

Terms and Conditions:

  • Pay scale/grade: (NJC special school scale 1C – point 2 – £9.43 per hour)
  • Working hours:
    • 2 hours per day (10 hours per week) Monday to Friday – 6:30 – 8:30am or 3:30 – 5:30pm or
    • 4 hours per day (20 hours per week) 6:30 – 8:30am and 3:30 – 5:30pm
  • Weeks worked: this is a 50-week contract so you will be working during most school holidays (not Autumn and Spring half terms) but will get Annual Leave to be taken during the year
  • Location: based at one of the three sites mentioned above but able to work across all sites when required

Midday Supervisory Assistant

Job Description:

We are often looking for a Midday Supervisory Assistants to join the team to work at one of our sites in Biggleswade; the School site (Hitchmead Road), the College site (The Baulk) or our satellite classes at Biggleswade Academy. These posts are quite different from those at a mainstream school so please read the job description to fully understand the nature of the role.

The posts are for 2 hours a day over lunchtime, Monday to Friday during term time.
