Ivel Valley School is an area special school catering for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities from the east of Central Bedfordshire and beyond. We educate children and young people from the ages of 3 to 19 across two main sites and three satellite classes. Having recently redeveloped our curriculum, we are in an exciting period of progress, and, due to being over-subscribed, are now expanding.
This is an exciting time to join us. Whilst our expansion is primarily in KS2, this vacancy is suitable for a primary or secondary class teacher, as you may be asked to work in any key stage across the school. However, previous experience, training and personal preference will always be taken into account.

Grade: NJC Special School Scale 3B – Point 7-11
Salary: £10.41 - £11.27 per hour
Due to expansion at the school we now want to resume cooking meals at our college site at The Baulk, Biggleswade, SG18 0PT. We are therefore looking for someone who can prepare around 20 meals a day and be responsible for all the cooking, cleaning, serving and ordering for the site. The successful candidate would be working alone in the kitchen but would have some supervision and support from the catering manager at the school site.
This is a term time only post and is for 9:30 to 2pm Monday to Friday, including training days.

Lead Practitioner for Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

The successful post holder will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational implementation of PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) at Ivel Valley School. The Lead Practitioner will be entirely pupil focussed and committed to pupil welfare.

Level 2 Teaching Assistant
Grade: Level 2A (Points 4 - 5)
Salary: £9.81 to £10.01 per hour (starting salary £15,519 per annum if working 35 hours)
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and energetic teaching assistant. Although previous experience is preferred, we are looking for people with the skills, aptitude and attitude to work effectively with our pupils, all of whom have special educational needs. The successful applicant will be appointed to the whole school and you could be required to work on either site or in one of our satellite classes.
The post is a permanent full time contract and is for 35 hours weekly and the hours you will be required to work are 8.30am – 4.00pm on a daily basis. Part time contracts will be considered for a reduced number of days, however the working hours are fixed.

Due to expansion of the school we have identified a need for additional cleaners to work at one of the three Ivel Valley School sites (Hitchmead Road, The Baulk and Biggleswade Academy – Kitelands Road).
Terms and Conditions:
- Pay scale/grade: (NJC special school scale 1C – point 2 – £9.43 per hour)
- Working hours:
- 2 hours per day (10 hours per week) Monday to Friday – 6:30 – 8:30am or 3:30 – 5:30pm or
- 4 hours per day (20 hours per week) 6:30 – 8:30am and 3:30 – 5:30pm
- Weeks worked: this is a 50-week contract so you will be working during most school holidays (not Autumn and Spring half terms) but will get standard Annual Leave to be taken during the year
- Location: based at one of the three sites mentioned above but able to work across all sites when required

Midday Supervisory Assistant
Grade: NJC Special School - Point 2 - 4

We are often looking for a Midday Supervisory Assistants to join the team to work at one of our sites in Biggleswade; the School site (Hitchmead Road), the College site (The Baulk) or our satellite classes at Biggleswade Academy. These posts are quite different from those at a mainstream school so please read the job description to fully understand the nature of the role.
The posts are for 2 hours a day over lunchtime, Monday to Friday during term time.
